National Wine Day and the Case for English Varieties

National Wine Day falls on 25th May.

#UsefulReminder to try something a little different! (Especially if the usual go-to bottle is French, Italian, or Spanish.)

English wine has built momentum in recent years. Vineyards continue to open across Kent, Sussex, and beyond, and English sparkling wines strongly compete with international varieties.

A wine-focused day is a fitting moment to try a local producer. Helpfully, several appear on Steppr.

Wine Garden of England runs a flexible voucher redeemable across Kent vineyards, including Chapel Down, Biddenden, and Gusbourne, for tastings, tours, or bottles. Stopham Vineyard, an award-winning estate in West Sussex, offers winery experiences alongside its aromatic whites. Grape Britannia stocks over 250 English and Welsh wines curated by specialists. Elizabeth Rose Wines focuses on quality home-grown options for casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike.

GCVA data from late 2025 found that almost a third of UK consumers now buy gift cards specifically to direct spending toward local businesses. National Wine Day is a small reason (/excuse) to do exactly that.

Vouchers from these vineyards and businesses on Steppr are delivered digitally and can be scheduled for the day itself. Repeat purchases unlock higher discounts, and payments go directly to the businesses.

Whether the bottle is for sharing at home, gifting to someone who appreciates a good glass, or simply tasting something new, 25th May is a fitting date to see what UK winemakers are doing.
